OSU PSA: Lahat Tayo ay mga Bayani (We are all heroes)

Mabuhay! I hope this message reaches you well—in the comforts of your own home.

We are the Pilipino Student Association from The Ohio State University. In October, PSA Barrio 2019: Bayanihan was celebrated. We thank all of you who joined us and made our event successful! Our hearts go to all of you, especially our fellow organizations who had to postpone their hard work for the safety of many.

With our theme of Bayanihan, our hope was to recognize the traditional Filipino value of helping each other without expecting anything in return: Our Barrio thrives together with mutual support and cooperation. Who knew that it would be so necessary now. These are unprecedented times. With the threat as imminent as the change, it is up to us to be aware and adjust.

Planning Barrio meant so many things: a chance to work alongside passionate individuals, create an event that aims to unite people, give back to our philanthropy of choice and above all, revisit our identity. Suffice to say we emerged as a stronger community—one that also values the time and effort it takes to organize cultural events.

We are privileged to have celebrated Barrio; a privilege that must wait, like so many, until we can all heal together.

With that, we are honored to share with you our memories:

Barrio Preparations

As the school year 2019-2020 begins, Cultural Show Director Ashley Marasigan and President Floyde Samidan plan for Barrio.

“Pie a PSA Member!” to raise funds for Barrio and bring our (messy) members together.

The Ohio State University’s Kawayan team practices for Barrio.

Snacks for Barrio goodie bags given to all of those who supported us. Yum!
